Shanballymore Church North Cork
“85 year old” Church in Shanballymore, Co. Cork undergoes extensive renovation to restore the internal gable wall back to its former splendour.
This is an interesting example of an early twentieth-century Roman Catholic church reusing fine quality cut stone from the nineteenth-century chapel of Buttevant Army barracks. Its location on an elevated site makes it an important landmark building in the village of Shanballymore. Secil Lime Render and Secil NHL Finishing Mortar, was specially selected for this renovation because it’s a Dry mortar, formulated with natural Hydraulic Lime. Delta waterproofing membrane system was used here also as large areas of the gable wall had become extremely damp.
